Chevening-Scholarships

Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organizations, Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with proven leadership potential and strong academic backgrounds. These scholarships offer full financial support for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university, along with access to exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

Since its inception in 1983, over 50,000 outstanding professionals have developed their careers in the UK through the Chevening program. For the 2023-24 academic year, more than 1,500 scholarships are available globally, underscoring the UK’s commitment to nurturing future leaders.

How Does It Work?

All applicants undergo a rigorous selection process, with the most suitable candidates personally selected by British embassies and high commissions worldwide.

As a fully-funded scholarship, recipients receive coverage for tuition or program fees, living expenses, and return flights to the UK. Additionally, scholars gain access to exclusive networking events, workshops, talks, internships, and volunteering opportunities, offering a comprehensive introduction to global roles.

Who Is It For?

Chevening Scholars are ambitious individuals with leadership potential, a strong academic background, and a track record of rising to prominent positions in their home countries across various fields.

Designed to support the UK’s public diplomacy overseas, Chevening Scholarships provide the skills and experiences necessary for achieving high levels of success while fostering strong future relationships with the UK.

If you are an aspiring leader seeking a postgraduate experience that prepares you for success, a Chevening Scholarship could be the perfect opportunity.

How to Apply

To apply for a Chevening Scholarship, select your country from the dropdown list at www.chevening.org/apply. Once you submit your application, it will be evaluated against Chevening’s eligibility criteria. Eligible applications will then be reviewed by independent reading committees, which will create a longlist of candidates.

Longlisted applicants will be invited to submit references and attend an interview with the British embassy or high commission in their respective countries. These face-to-face interviews, conducted in English by a panel, will explore your personal and professional goals and how a Chevening Scholarship would help you achieve them. The panel will also consider your choice of courses and score your interview against the global Chevening criteria.
